Freedom at the Café: Deliverance Still Happens Today

Not long ago, a man arrived in town early on a Saturday morning, stepping off the Greyhound bus with a heavy backpack — not just on his shoulders, but in his spirit.

We first met him at a 7-Eleven while picking up ice for one of our café gatherings. We invited him to join us (and thank you to all who make these moments possible through your support).

That day, he came to the Café. During the altar call, the Holy Spirit began to move. He was drawn forward for prayer. As hands were laid and the name of Jesus was declared, the fire of God fell — and what had been hidden came into the light.

Demons began to manifest, speaking out and revealing they had been in his family line for three generations. They claimed he was a believer, yet also insisted that his body was their house, and that they had a right to be there.

But in the powerful name of Jesus, every lie was broken.

The next day, he came to church at Dominion. There, even more freedom came as strongman spirits were cast out by the authority of the Holy Spirit.

All we did was what Jesus taught us to do: we invoked His name and stood in His authority. The tormentors had no choice — they had to leave. And what followed was not fear, not confusion, but peace. Joy. Freedom. The kind only Jesus can give.

This is a clear reminder: believers can still experience bondage. They may love Jesus sincerely, yet unknowingly carry generational baggage, soul wounds, or leave open doors the enemy exploits. We’ve seen this pattern time and time again.

But the good news is this: freedom is available.

Jesus still delivers. The same power that cast out demons in the Gospels is alive and at work through His people today. This isn’t hype. It’s healing. It’s not showmanship. It’s deliverance.

So don’t assume bondage isn’t real just because someone knows the Lord. True freedom often comes when what’s been hidden is brought into the light.

Jesus came to set the captives free — and He still is.
