Not long ago, while serving at our Café Pizza outreach, a guest asked me a question that I hear often. He had recently found himself homeless and searching for answers. When I told him, “God already has your provision. In fact, it’s already there,” he looked at me and said, “What do you mean by that, Pastor Steve?”
It’s an honest question, and one that many of us wrestle with when our needs feel overwhelming. The Bible tells us that God has already made provision for us—both spiritually and physically—through Christ.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”
— Ephesians 1:3
“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
— Philippians 4:19
Notice the language: “has blessed” and “shall supply.” God is not scrambling to figure out how to meet your need. He already provided for it in Christ.
When we don’t see provision, it doesn’t mean God hasn’t provided. Often, it means:
We haven’t yet received what He’s placed for us.
We are in the middle of the transfer stage, where faith is tested and patience is required.
Jesus Himself promised:
“And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”
— Matthew 21:22
“Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”
— Mark 11:24
Faith does not quit in the waiting. Faith holds fast until the transfer arrives.
As Christians, we are fighters—not with fists, but with faith. Scripture says:
“The just shall live by faith.”
— Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11
I like to say, “The just fight by faith.” Our weapon is the sword of God’s Word. We fight by praying, confessing, and declaring His promises even when we don’t see results.
Revelation 12:11 tells us:
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…”
Faith is not passive. It’s active. We activate His presence in our lives when we stand on His Word, speak it, and keep moving in obedience. The Holy Spirit longs to navigate us into God’s perfect plan.
I know what it’s like to be desperate for answers. Years ago, after going through my second break up of a family, I felt broken and lost. I ran from pastor to counselor, from friend to acquaintance, searching for help, advice - maybe even pity. But nothing seemed to work.
One day, as I sat alone in prayer, God spoke directly to my heart:
“You need to stop going everywhere else looking for answers and learn to read what I have already written on your heart.”
That word changed my life. I realized the Lord lives was with me. He sees the whole picture. He has already put provision in place. My job was not to chase answers everywhere else, but to seek Him and discover what He had already provided.
Your pain can become your platform. What the enemy meant for your downfall, God will use to strengthen you for your future. The struggle you face today may be the very training ground that prepares you for the purpose He has placed ahead of you.
The Holy Spirit gave me a picture of this years ago when I was serving in the Navy. On May 31, 1992, I gave my life to Christ on the Red Sea aboard the USS Jack Williams. At that time, I worked as a cook, running the officers’ dining facility and ordering food supplies for 220 sailors.
One of my key responsibilities was to make sure we never ran out of food. That could have been dangerous—let’s just say, nobody wanted to see hungry sailors! But here’s what gave me confidence: I knew that once we passed through the Suez Canal, a supply ship would already be waiting for us. Uncle Sam had planned ahead, and tax dollars had put provision in place. All we had to do was follow the coordinates, pull alongside, and receive what was already waiting.
The Holy Spirit whispered to me:
“Provision is found in your purpose.”
That truth has never left me.
In the same way, God has already stationed supply along the path of your purpose. You may not see it yet, but as you stay faithful to your course, you’ll find His provision waiting right where you need it.
On the cross, Jesus declared:
“It is finished!” — John 19:30
With those words, He sealed an all-inclusive package of salvation, healing, and provision. Everything you need for life and godliness has already been purchased by His blood. You can’t earn it. You can’t pay it back. It’s already done.
Your role now is to:
Pull alongside in prayer — draw near to Him daily.
Read what He has written on your heart — listen to the Holy Spirit within.
Speak His Word — declare His promises over your life.
Stay in purpose — keep sailing on the course He has set.
The coordinates of His Word will always lead you to the provision He has already placed for you.
Sometimes the hardest part is waiting for what God has promised to show up in the natural. That’s where many people quit. But remember, the supply ship is already out there. Your job is to keep following His directions until you see it.
So stay faithful. Stay prayerful. Stay in purpose.
Your provision is already there.
